The Cathedral in Morelia, Michoacán

On the way to Pátzcuaro, it is worth stopping for a moment to rest in Morelia, to visit the Cathedral and have lunch.

The Cathedral is one of Morelia's most emblematic and representative buildings. High at 66.8 meters, has two high towers that are visible throughout the city valley. On the towers two crosses are raised, one of iron, which symbolizes the divine nature of Christ, and the other of stone, which represents the human nature of Jesus.

The Cathedral was designed by the Italian architect Vicencio Barroso de la Escayola. Construction began on August 6, 1660, and ended 84 years later in 1744.

It is worth paying attention to the unique monumental tubular organ "San Gregorio Magno". Made in Germany at the beginning of the 20th century is the second-largest organ in Mexico, after the organ of the Cathedral of Zamora, Michoacán. The quality of their sound is such that they make it one of the best in this continent.

Po drodze do Pátzcuaro warto zatrzymać się na chwile odpoczynku w Morelii aby zwiedzić Katedrę i zjeść obiad.

Katedra jest jednym z najbardziej charakterystycznych i reprezentatywnych budynków Moreli. Wysoka na 66,8 metra ma dwie wysokie wieże, które są widoczne w całej dolinie miasta. Na wieżach są dwa krzyże, jeden z żelaza, który symbolizuje boską naturę Chrystusa, a drugi z kamienia, który reprezentuje ludzką naturę Jezusa.

Katedrę zaprojektował włoski architekt Vicencio Barroso de la Escayola. Budowa rozpoczęła się 6 sierpnia 1660 roku a zakończyła 84 lata później w 1744 r.

Warto zwrócić uwagę na wyjątkowe monumentalne organy rurkowe „San Gregorio Magno”. Wyprodukowane w Niemczech na początku XX wieku są drugimi co do wielkości organami w Meksyku, po organach w Katedrze w Zamorze, Michoacán.

Charakteryzują się też a jedną z najlepszych jakości dźwięku na tym kontynencie.
